Case study: Doomadgee Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Survey

The Culture and Heritage Unit conducted a heritage survey of the town of Doomadgee in the Queensland Gulf Country as preparation for the development of new residential subdivisions and health services buildings.

Our survey was conducted with the assistance of the local traditional owners who identified Dreaming places and other locations of significance to Aboriginal people. The survey resulted in a town planning outcome that was sensitive and responsive to the local Aboriginal community.
